First lots to title at Bloom Hervey Bay

The Humphries family from Victoria will be among the first to receive their title

Darrel and Hayley Humphries will be among the first people to settle on their blocks at Bloom in December and they are looking forward to having their family home completed in the new year.

They moved to Hervey Bay in late 2022 when their doctor advised Darrel to seek warmer weather for his workplace injury that was giving him trouble in the chilly Victorian winters.  They drove up with their four girls to be close to Hayley’s family and to take advantage of Hervey Bay’s wonderful weather.

Hayley grew up in Hervey Bay and spent the past 15 years living in regional Victoria on 40 acres near the ski fields with Darren and their girls. Quite different weather to the steady warm 25 degrees in Hervey Bay!

Hayley and Darren said they chose Bloom for its large blocks and the affordability which allowed them to build their dream 390 sqm custom designed home with local family builders Vivid.

“We started going around looking at different sized blocks and we worked out we needed a block of at least 900 square metres because if you have a 600 square metre block and a five bedroom house there’s not much left for the backyard,” Hayley said.

They describe their block at Bloom as large enough for their family home with enough yard for the kids to be able to move – as well as Darrel’s dream shed with side access.

Darrel and Hayley put down their initial deposit in the brand new estate in 2023 and remarked how much money they saved buying the block off the plan. As the one of the first buyers at Bloom they have waited for 12 months to have their block delivered.

“Blocks go up in value by $25,000-$50,000 when they are titled and the Bloom blocks were a pretty good price from what we’ve seen around here. Good things come to those who wait!” they said.

While they waited for their land to title they used the time to thoroughly research local builders and construction prices. Both commented that building prices are very reasonable and there are plenty of local builders to choose from.

They also praised the smooth buying experience with salesman Nathan Tertis.Yes, he’s been very good. He kept us up to date and always gets back to you later that day to answer our questions,” they said.

Darrel is pleased to see the community and recently started a Bloom Facebook page to chat with his future neighbours.

“We’re talking about the block we’re building on as another way to keep communicating with people,” he said.

Darrel said one of the bonuses of Bloom was the flat price of the soil tests they had been discussing with their Facebook community.

“Because everybody has the same soil type at Bloom Resi Ventures has managed to keep the soil test price down to $2,500 when other people in the area are being charged as much as $20,000,” Darrel said.

They love Bloom for its country feel as well as the view of Swissalps which is a landmark hill at the back of Hervey Bay.

“It’s a large hill that you’ll see from Bloom, and it has two little houses on the top with a little Swiss flag.  I used to love sitting in that area and just looking over the countryside. It’s a little bit different now but it’s good to know that I’ve got a piece that I used to love looking at,” Hayley said.

The community services were also very important to Hayley and Darrel.

Bloom is close to two shopping centres, a major hospital about two kilometres away as well as doctors, dentists and Spectrum Village. There are also extensive playing fields for their children at the Fraser Coast Sport & Recreation Precinct to the rear of Bloom which will provide more than 50 sporting fields and playing surfaces catering to football (soccer), AFL, rugby league/union, hocky netball, tennis, touch football and Oz.

Darrel and Hayley are also very pleased with the quality of education for their primary and high school girls that has seen their education coming ahead in leaps and bounds.

I asked them if they had one message for potential buyers and Bloom, what would it be?“Jump in. It’s good land. Really nice spot. It’s not far from very anywhere. Hervey Bay is a really nice spot to live. Not too hot, not too cold. Everybody is friendly and there’s plenty happening on the sea front with music and bands,” they said.

The next stages of the project are well underway, with Shadforth appointed as the civil contractor. Land in Stage 3 has completely sold out, and the initial release of Stage 4 is also fully sold. New land is set to be released in 2025.
